On December 12th, we cordially invite you to the Bizet Gala, marking the 150th anniversary of the composer’s death.
The program will feature a concert version of the opera Carmen, now considered a masterpiece of world musical literature. This work, later recognized as symphonically exquisite, lends itself to stage performance. However, it did not immediately gain the audience’s approval. Initially judged as iconoclastic, immoral, and even scandalous, it likely led to Bizet’s death, as he could not bear the weight of the critics’ criticism.
Carmen, seductive, mysterious, and unpredictable, despite shocking audiences with its eroticism and sensuality, also became a model for a tragic figure.
We invite you to listen to this musical story of love, driven by passion and desire, leading to perdition.
