Choirmaster, vocalist, and educator. She graduated from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music, Białystok Branch, in the conducting class of Prof. V. Bielecka. In 1998, she completed the Postgraduate Choirmastering Studies with distinction, and in 2000, the Postgraduate Voice Studies at the F. Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, with distinction. In June 2006, she completed the Postgraduate Master Vocal Studies at the Grażyna and Kiejstut Bacewicz Academy of Music in Łódź, in the solo singing class of Prof. G. Krajewska-Ambroziak. She has also honed her skills at numerous national and international choirmastering and vocal courses. In 2019, she obtained a postdoctoral degree in musical arts in the artistic discipline of conducting at the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. Professionally associated with the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music, Białystok Branch (subjects taught: conducting, voice production), the Ignacy Jan Paderewski Complex of Music Schools (solo singing teacher), the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz (individual and ensemble vocal production classes), and the “Szkoła Talentów” Post-Secondary Vocal and Acting School in Białystok (solo singing teacher). Ewa Barbara Rafałko has collaborated with the choirs of the Białystok University of Technology, the Białystok Branch of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music, the University of Finance and Management in Białystok, and the Choir of the Chamber and Organ Music Foundation in Hajnówka, with whom she has conducted extensive artistic activities. She was the artistic supervisor and member of the “Vis Maior” ensemble and the “Gaudium” Vocal Octet, with whom she recorded the highly successful album “Carols for the Third Day of Christmas”. Since 2011, she has served as conductor and artistic director of the Children’s and Youth Choir of the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic. The ensemble’s credits include numerous concerts, participation in oratorios, performances in stage productions, the innovatively arranged album “Christmas Wishes”, and the Passionate Stabat Mater, Lord You See… composed by M. Nagnajewicz. Ewa Barbara Rafałko’s artistic achievements also include numerous vocal recitals and performances as a soloist of oratorio works (G.G. Gorczycki’s Completorium, G.B. Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, A. Vivaldi’s Gloria, W.A. Mozart’s Missa Brevis in D, Missa Brevis in B, Coronation Mass, Requiem, F. Schubert’s Mass in G, C. Orff’s Carmina Burana, J. Rutter’s Magnificat, Requiem, Gloria, J. Jankins’ Requiem). She frequently serves on the juries of choral competitions, auditions for soloists and chamber ensembles. She leads numerous vocal and methodological workshops, including those in the field of stage performance. The artist was honored with the Best Conductor Award at the Łapskie Te Deum Choral Music Festival (1999) and the Hajnówka International Festival of Orthodox Music (2005). In 2015, she received the Award of the Chairman of the Białystok City Council for her lifetime achievements and the honorary badge of Merit for Polish Culture from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage. She is a laureate of the “Medal-worthy Teacher” plebiscite. She was also nominated for the title of “Personality of the Year 2018” in the Culture category. In 2022, she received the Gold Medal for Long Service from the President of the Republic of Poland.
