Mickiewicz in music composed by Piotr Nazaruk and Krzysztof Herdzin to Piotr Tomaszuk’s libretto. The masterpiece of Romanticism in a modern form. A moving piece inspired by Part II of Adam Mickiewicz’s of ‘Forefathers’ Eve’ combining the power of oratorio with the drama of theatre.
The performance is being created in partnership with the Wierszalin Theatre, which has extensive experience in interpreting the works of Adam Mickiewicz.
‘Forefathers’ Eve Night’ is a special piece. I must admit that referring to one of the most important position in Polish literature was a great challenge for us (composers). The most important thing was to convey the anxiety and dark contexts full of suffering associated with summoning souls. Following Mickiewicz, we tried to convey the tragic and romantic character of the whole.
(Krzysztof Herdzin)
