Born in 1974. In 1993, she graduated from the J. Vienožinskis School of Fine Arts in Vilnius. From 1994 to 2000, she studied art history and scenography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vilnius. In 2004, she completed an internship at the Aleksander Zelwerowicz National Theatre Academy (Warsaw) at the Department of Puppet Art in Białystok. In 2008, she completed postgraduate studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vilnius. From 2006 to 2015, she taught at the Department of Scenography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vilnius. She has collaborated extensively with the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre in Vilnius (Faculty of Acting and Directing), and since 2016 has been collaborating with the Aleksander Zelwerowicz National Theatre Academy (Faculty of Puppet Art in Białystok). Julia Skuratova has designed sets for performances in numerous Lithuanian and international theatres. She has designed sets, costumes, and puppets for drama theatres in Vilnius, Kaunas, and Klaipėda, the Kaunas Music Theatre, the Vilnius Opera and Ballet Theatre, and puppet theatres in Lithuania, Hungary, Slovakia, and Poland, collaborating with the Animation Theatre in Poznań, the Maska Theatre in Rzeszów, the Białystok Puppet Theatre, and the Wierszalin Theatre in Supraśl, among others. Since 1999, she has participated in set design exhibitions in Lithuania, Poland, and the Czech Republic. A member of the Lithuanian Artists’ Union, she has received numerous theatre awards from the Lithuanian Ministry of National Culture, including the the “Golden Cross of the Stage” award for creating puppets and scenography for two madrigal operas by C. Monteverdi: The Fight between Tancred and Clorinda and The Dance of the Ungrateful Maidens (organizer of the VŠI “Banchetto muzicale” project, premiere at the “Lėlė” Theatre in Vilnius).
