The Early Music Ensemble “Consort 415”
The Early Music Ensemble Consort 415 was founded in 2000 and specializes in performing music of the Baroque period. It is made up of a group of early music enthusiasts and, in private, a group of friends. This creates a unique, joyful atmosphere during the ensemble’s rehearsals and concerts. It is the longest-running ensemble in Białystok playing period instruments, with a repertoire that includes instrumental and vocal-instrumental music by composers such as J.S. Bach, A. Vivaldi, A. Corelli, F. Geminiani, H.I.F. Biber, G.A. Pandolfi Mealli, as well as Polish composers such as A. Jarzębski and K. Forster. The ensemble has participated in the following festivals held regularly in Białystok: Music in the Old Church, Concerts before the Bugle Call, and Old Parish Church. It has performed with leading Polish harpsichordist, organist, and expert on the Baroque style, M. Toporowski. With the Ars Antiqua choir under the direction of Prof. Z. Szablewski, the ensemble took part in a series of Warsaw concerts entitled: Masterpieces of a capella vocal music and Pearls of choral music. The artists also collaborated with the outstanding harpsichordist L. Stawarz, with the violinist A. Sapiecha, specializing in early music performance, with the outstanding saxophonist P. Baron, performing a baroque-jazz arrangement of A. Vivaldi’s Four Seasons (Spring and Summer), as well as with M. Wróblewska, P. Kummer, Ł. Kazanecki, E. Adamczyk (vocals), I. Leśniowska-Lubowicz, A. Wolfinger, J. Motulewicz, M. Liweń, P. Borys, P. Nowacki, W. Gierlach, R.G. Przybyła (baroque oboe), P. Książkiewicz (traverso), M. Skotnicki (recorder), P. Hulisz, I. Cecocha (baroque trumpet), and S. Trojanowski (positive). The musicians have frequently provided musical accompaniment to literary meetings at the Sleńdziński Gallery in Białystok. Members of the ensemble perform daily in the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic Orchestra – European Art Centre in Białystok. In 2012, this institution purchased violin copies of baroque instruments by A. Stradivarius, N. Amati, and G. Dal Salo for the ensemble. The premiere concert featuring these instruments took place on June 10, 2012, at the Branicki Palace in Białystok. In 2013, CONSORT 415, under the musical direction of L. Stawarz, inaugurated the Chamber Stage of the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic, performing the opera Pimpinone by G. Ph. Telemann, directed by A. Korytkowska-Mazur (the performance was presented, among others, as part of the 52nd Music Festival in Łańcut and during the inauguration of the new Concert Hall of the Suwałki Cultural Centre in September 2013).
