Brief description of the task:
The opera Joash for six soloists, orchestra, and mixed choir, conducted by Maestro Mirosław Jacek Błaszczyk, will be composed by the distinguished Polish composer of contemporary music, Paweł Łukaszewski, to a libretto by the Italian poet Pietro Metastasio. The premiere of the work will culminate the 2nd Edition of the International Festival ‘Metastasio Without Borders’ on the Main Stage of the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic on August 18, 2024. The work is intended to cultivate and draw on the operatic traditions of librettist Pietro Metastasio, an Italian writer, poet, and one of the most distinguished librettists in the history of 18th-century opera. It is the librettos of his operas, translated by Bazyli Popiel, that are included in the Supraśl Publishing House of the Basilian Fathers. The libretto for Joash in Polish was written in 1782.
