Important information! Due to new regulations caused by the appearance of COVID-19, The 2nd Edition of The International Organ Competition in Bialystok has been postponed to June 2021.
We will inform you about further information or changes.
The first edition of the International Organ Competition took place at the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic in 2017, having as its goal promoting organ music and young organ virtuosos. The eleven participants who qualified came from Poland, Czech Republic, Lithuania and Russia, and they performed famous organ pieces and transcriptions. The Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic owns one of the largest and most interesting organ instruments in Poland, with 61 voices and over 4 thousand pipes. The public could hear it, for instance, during “The Phantom of the Opera” productions, when the famous title piece was played live. The instrument was designed by Prof. Andrzej Chorosiński, one of the jurors of our competition. The remaining jury members were Prof. Bernhard Gfrerer from Salzburg, Prof. Leopoldas Digrys from Vilnius, Prof. Roman Perucki from Gdańsk, Prof. Daniel Zaretsky from St. Petersburg, and Prof. Jan Bokszczanin from Białystok. The unanimous winner of the first edition was Mateusz Rzewuski of Poland, with the joint third place (the second was not awarded) going to Karolina Juodelytė of Lithuania and Lyubov Nosova of Russia. The second edition of the competition is starting in June 2020.
