Today at 19:30 Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic Choir will yet again perform on the Katowice Kultura Natura festival. Alongside Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra (NOSPR) and great soloists, under the baton of the first conductor and artistic director of NOSPR, Alexander Liebreich, the Choir will perform Igor Stravinsky’s “Oedipus Rex.”

Solo parts are going to be performed by Michael Weinius (Oedipus, tenor), Tanja Ariane Baumgartner (Jocasta, mezzo-soprano), Krešimir Stražanac (Creon, bass-baritone), Oleg Tsibulko (Tiresias, bass), Piotr Maciejowski (Shepherd, tenor), Jan Żądło (Messenger, baritone), Zbigniew Zamachowski (Speaker, speaking role).

In the programme of the evening there will also be Tchaikovsky’s “Romeo and Juliet” fatasy overture and Berlioz’s “The Death of Cleopatra.” The concert is going to be preceded by a lecture by Marcin Trzęsiok, who will provide an interpretation of the performed works. The lecture is going to be held at 18.45 on the NOSPR small stage.

Katowice Kultura Natura festival is being held May 10 to 19. This year it is subtitled “Woman.” It is already the fifth edition of the fest and another one in which our Choir performs.
