Description:
Piotr Beczała plays the role of a noble poet who falls victim to the intrigues and brutality of the French Revolution in Giordano’s passionate tragic opera. Following his highly acclaimed performance in Fedora during the 2022–23 Live in HD season, Beczała once again joins forces with soprano Sonya Yoncheva, who this time plays Chénier’s aristocratic beloved, Maddalena di Coigny. Baritone Igor Golovatenko will play the role of Carl Gérard, the representative of revolutionary terror who decides the fate of the lovers. Daniele Rustioni will conduct. Nicolas Joël’s thrilling production will be broadcast live from the Met in New York to cinemas around the world on 13 December 2025.
