Hearing “Fryderyk” we think “Chopin.” His input in the history of music is invaluable, and the patriotic force of his works was compared by Schumann to “cannons hidden amongst flowers.” Let us honour his memory with Piano Concerto in F minor, which constitutes the apogee of the style brillant and at the same time it goes beyond its framework, proving Chopin’s artistry. This evening Chopin will be completed by Shostakovich and his triumphant success: Symphony No. 5 in D minor, in which his trademark reverie, majesty and sense of humour intertwines in perfect harmony.
