The Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic has signed letters of intent with two leading Lithuanian musical institutions – the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre in Vilnius and the State Music Theatre in Kaunas. The documents pave the way for joint projects, co-productions and artistic exchanges.

The Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre in Vilnius is Lithuania’s largest opera and ballet theatre and a key center of musical life. The theatre recently celebrated its 105th anniversary and the 100th anniversary of Lithuanian ballet. The institution regularly collaborates with artists from around the world and produces ambitious opera and ballet premieres. The State Music Theatre in Kaunas is also one of the oldest music venues in Lithuania, with a history dating back to the late 19th century. It is renowned for its rich operetta and musical tradition and unique repertoire, which, alongside classics, also features modern musical productions.

The signed documents open up new opportunities for cooperation and strengthen cultural relations between Poland and Lithuania.
Collaboration with Lithuania’s most important music venues is a huge opportunity for us to create ambitious, international projects and exchange artistic experiences – emphasizes Professor Violetta Bielecka, Director of the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic. – I believe that these activities will result in a broader range of events and, above all, create even more opportunities for audiences on both sides of the border to meet outstanding artists and inspiring stage projects.

This is another step in the development of international cooperation – last year, the OiFP signed a similar agreement with the Josef Kajetán Tyl Theatre in Pilsen.
