Task title: Krzysztof Meyer – Piece for two flutes and symphony orchestra

Brief description of the task:

Krzysztof Meyer’s Concerto for Two Flutes and Orchestra is the next stage and continuation of the composer’s experience in smaller instrumental ensembles within the concertante genre. The full orchestral apparatus will offer a wide range of possibilities in terms of harmony, color, texture, and the exposure of solo instruments. Both soloists will be accompanied by a symphony orchestra, whose role will not be merely accompaniment, but will provide a specific sonic counterpoint for the flutes. It will be a four-movement work. The introductory movement will be moderate, the second fast, the third very slow, and the final very fast. The work will last approximately 20 minutes. The choice of a classical four-movement form and its content, which draws directly on contemporary compositional techniques, will make the work a perfect addition to educational materials for music school students.
