From the Opera to the Set – Anna Wolfinger’s Film Debut in Michał Kwieciński’s Production
Anna Wolfinger, soloist of the Podlasie Opera and Phliharmonic, for the very first time will be appearing on the big screen for the first time. In Michał Kwieciński’s latest film, Chopin, Chopin!, the artist plays… an opera singer. The film is scheduled to premiere in Polish cinemas on October 10th.
The film production is a unique moment in the career of the artist, whom music lovers know primarily for her interpretations of operatic roles – It was a completely new experience for me – straight from the opera stage, I found myself on a film set. It turned out the emotions are similar: you have to give your all and be absolutely authentic. I’m glad I could combine my passion for music with my first step into the magical world of cinema – the artist emphasizes.
Anna Wolfinger made her debut in 2012 on the Main Stage of the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic as Hanna in Stanisław Moniuszko’s The Haunted Manor. Since then, she has performed roles such as Nedda in Pagliacci, Pamina in The Magic Flute, Musetta in La Bohème, Violetta in La Traviata, and Carlotta in The Phantom of the Opera. She has sung on the stages of the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic, the Cracow Opera, the Grand Theatre in Łódź, the Grand Theatre in Poznań, and the Polish Royal Opera. In October, audiences will see her again on the Main Stage of the OiFP, this time in the role of Clorinda in G. Rossini’s opera Cinderella, or the Triumph of Goodness.
A graduate of the Academy of Music in Cracow and the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg, a laureate of numerous vocal competitions, including the Grand Prix of the International J. Kiepura Vocal Competition, she is considered one of the most interesting sopranos of her generation. Her repertoire encompasses both operatic classics and Baroque music, as well as oratorio and cantata works.
