“May you live two hundred years, Mr Moniuszko” is a truly exsquisite concert of the Song and Dance Ensemble “Kurpie Zielone,” prepared especially on the occasion of the Year of Stanisław Moniuszko. It will present repertoire of songs and scenic arrangements of folk dances to the music by Moniuszko and compositions inspired by his oeuvre. Besides the new dances and songs, it will of course abound in the highlights of traditional Kurpie repertoire.
In programme:
- Polish national dances to the music of Moniuszko’s operas and inspired by his works (polonaise, mazurka, krakowiak)
- chosen works from “Songbook for Home Use” in folk-stylised arrangements
- dance compositions inspired by Moniuszko’s music and folklore
- dance and songs compositions from different Polish regions: Kurpie, Masuria, Suwałki Region, Rzeszów Region, Orava, Lemkivshchyna, Żywiec Region
Performing: adults’ and children’s groups of the Song and Dance Ensemble “Kurpie Zielone”—150 persons in total!
The Song and Dance Ensemble “Kurpie Zielone” functions by the Voivodeship Centre of Cultural Animation (WOAK) in Białystok, and last year on the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic’s stage it celebrated a jubilee of 65 years of artistic activity. It is one of the oldest and most renowned song and dance ensembles in Podlasie. The group has performed more than 1,600 concerts in over 20 countries.
