Last night, beside of the “Turandot” premiere, brought us one more reason to celebrate—OiFP photographer, Michał Heller, is one of the laureates of 4th Theatrical Photography Competition organised by the Zbigniew Raszewski Theatre Institute! He won in the category of documentary photography! Congratulations!

There was 1400 photographs to choose from in the 4th edition of the competition. Jury: Dariusz Kosiński, Magdalena Maciejewska, Chris Niedenthal, Agnieszka Olszewska, and Agnieszka Wanicka has a really tough nut to crack. Out of that multitude they managed to pick 16 finalists.

In the B category, to which documentary photography sets had been sumbitted, there were two 1st prizes awarded, 7.500 PLN each. The laureates’ sets underlined, as jury stated, “both the photographs’ versatility and their unique abilities to document stage activities.” The winners are Tobiasz Papuczys and his sets from the performances entitled “Wściekły człowiek. Wariacje w obronie gniewu” from Studio Matejka and Jerzy Grotowski Institute in Worclaw, “Państwo” from Teatr Polski w Podziemiu in Wroclaw, and “Don K.” from Could Theater in Wroclaw (in this case what was valued the most was “creative work on capturing nonstandard theatrical projects”) and Michał Heller for two sets of pictures on “Doctor Zhivago” (rehealsals and the premiere)—it was appreciated for “multisided reflection of the spirit and the dynamic of a theatrical performance.”
